A horse's ass wearing a mortarboard leads a blind jester, a sheep, and a crippled parrot cross a campus landscape, identified by the looming, pennant-topped stadium façade in the background. All four figures wear academic robes; the jester carries a black banner and the sheep holds two paint brushes. The scene is a variation on Pieter Bruegel the Elder's The Blind Leading the Blind (1568). The area around the trailing figure's heads had not been completely carved away in early proofs. An ink sketch for this work also exists.
