ANALYSIS OF THE $\nu_{4}$ ($615\, cm^{-1}$) REGION OF THE FT-IR AND DIODE LASER SPECTRA OF $SF_{6}$

Abstract
We will show spectra of $SF_{6}$ in the $\nu_{4}$ region obtained, both at moderate resolution ($0.05, cm^{-1}$) with a Fourier Transformation Spectrometer, and at very high resolution ($0.0001, cm^{-1}$) with a diode laser and a multiply-passed cell of variable path length up to 1 km. Diode laser studies made of selected J-manifolds resolve the structure very well and show that the manifolds are separated to J = 107 in the P-branch and to $J > 116$ in the R-branch. Structure of the ``hot” bands and detailed analysis of the fundamental band will be discussed.
