Abstract

The infrared absorption spectra of nitrogen dioxide and its isotopic species have been measured under high resolution in the region $1200-1700 cm^{-1}$. The $v_{1}$ and $v_{3}$ bands of $^{14}N^{16}O_{2}$, $^{15}N^{16}O_{2}$, and $^{15}N^{18}O_{2}$ have been analyzed. A computer assisted graphical technique has been employed in the analysis of these spectra. This technique facilitates rapid identification of the observed transitions and has now been used successfully for asymmetric rotor bands. The ground state and upper state energy levels have been determined from the spectra.
