Abstract

Electronic transitions, from the 3Σg ground state to Rydberg stales have been observed in the 280 to 380 nm region, corresponding to a two-photon energy region of 53000 to 72000cm−1. The B2 was produced by the reaction of diborane (B2H6) with atomic fluorine or chlorine in a flow reactor. The B2 was multiphoton ionized and the ions mass selected. Spectra were obtained for the 11B11B and 11B10B isotopomers.
