Abstract
Gas phase metal hydrides and deuterides can be produced by the reaction of hot metal vapours with hydrogen and deuterium, respectively. The infrared spectra of the monohydride and monodeuteride of gallium were measured in emission with the Bruker IFS 120 HR Fourier transform spectrometer at the University of Waterloo. While recording the GaD spectrum at $1400^{\circ} C$, the spectrum of the impurity SiO was observed. Sets of Dunham coefficients, $Y_{ij}$, were determined for all compounds and sets of mass-reduced Dunham coefficients, $U_{ij}$, were determined for GaH and GaD.
