Merging Dance Fields: Exploring Contemporary Dance in a Commercial Space

Abstract

This thesis describes the challenges and outcomes of a creative based research endeavor. The research focuses on how contemporary dance can exist in a space where commercial dance styles are more typically utilized and how this challenges ideas of dance as art versus dance for entertainment.
